Saskatoon Police responded around 10:30 Tuesday night to reports of a red Ford F150 driving into oncoming traffic.
The call came in from Millar Avenue and 64th Street in the Marquis Industrial area and when police got to the location, they came across a man standing in the middle of the street next to a truck that matched the description they’d been given.
The man got back into the truck, refused to pull over and continued to evade police even though by the time he was in the area of Wanuskewin Road and Highway 11, he’d driven over a tire deflation device and was driving on rims. The suspect turned off the highway onto Range Road 3052 driving slowly which is when a patrol vehicle with a safety bar made contact with the truck bringing it to a stop.
A 34-year-old man is facing charges of Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Impaired Driving and Failure to Provide a Breath Sample.
Meanwhile, around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning Saskatoon Police say an officer on patrol spotted a suspicious vehicle in the 500 block of 8th Street East. Police attempted a traffic stop on the sedan when it turned onto McPherson Avenue and when the driver slowed down and pulled over, a male and female got out and fled on foot and the driver then sped off.
Police say the suspect vehicle began evading and driving recklessley in the area of Wilson Crescent and Preston Avenue and when he tried to take over a snowplow, he lost control and ended up on the median.
The suspect was taken into custody after trying to flee on foot. A 41-year-old man is believed to have been under the influence of methamphetamine and was wanted on warrants. He has been charged with Possession of Bear Spray, Impaired Driving, Dangerous Driving, Evade Police and Breach of Court Conditions.
