The NDP is calling on Saskatchewan Health Authority board members to ‘put in a full day of work’, after reviewing meeting minutes from 2025. 

NDP Associate Health Critic Keith Jorgenson says the board of the SHA, an $8 billion organization, only met six times in 2025.  

What’s more, Jorgenson says the longest gathering lasted one hour and 13 minutes, and the shortest just four minutes.

“If things were going really, really well in the SHA and everything was coming along smoothly, maybe you would have a shorter meeting, but there’s been a lot of chaos within our healthcare system.”

He adds that he cannot glean enough information regarding the meeting’s subject matter from the minutes, but he says there is no evidence that members are discussing solutions or initiatives.  

“You can only judge it based upon what we see, which is, in one case, 135 words. I was a teacher for a lot of years. I can think of a lot of Grade 6’s who would be told to redo their homework if they only had 135 words in it.” 

Jorgenson claims the senior employees of the SHA’s organizational chart are made up Scott Moe campaign donors. An example he gives is Moe’s former press secretary and leadership campaign staffer Jim Billington, who now earns $257,640 annually as Vice President of Community Engagement and Communications. 

In a statement, the SHA responded that “The one meeting in question was a procedural meeting to advance the SHA’s annual report for tabling in the Legislative Assembly. There were no other business items on the agenda for that meeting,” and “Board members are appointed pursuant to the Provincial Health Authority Act. Membership consists of people from various professions, geographic areas and cultural backgrounds, bringing valuable perspectives to the governance and oversight of the SHA’s operations and service delivery. ”
