The latest Angus Reid survey shows widespread backlash is the result of U.S. President Donald Trump’s criticism of Pope Leo XIV.

The Angus Reid Institute says a clear majority of Americans at 58 per cent says Trump’s criticism of the Pope was unacceptable.

And the disapproval deepens in connection to the AI-generated image Trump shared that appeared to depict him in the place of Jesus. Half of Trump’s MAGA supporters believe the image was intended as a joke while two thirds of Americans, at 68 per cent, say the post went too far.
