Saskatoon’s visitor economy grew year-over-year, bringing in a record $897.5 million in 2025.
Chief Executive Officer of Discover Saskatoon Stephanie Poacha says this is a 12.5 per cent increase over the year prior which is incredible news for local restaurants, hotels, retailers, and venues. She says as impressive as last year was, it’s going to take a lot of work to surpass those numbers this year.
“It is incredible to see this growth, but it is even more important to keep our foot on the gas pedal and continue to prospect opportunities. These opportunities don’t just come and land in our laps. We have a team of people that are focused internationally and nationally on prospecting opportunities and bringing them to Saskatoon.”
Some of those events included the Midwestern Legislative Conference and the Travel Media Association of Canada.
She adds that a widespread reluctance to travel to the United States has prompted a flood of visitors from around Canada and even overseas.
“Last year, we saw a number of Brazilian incentive travel agents come to Saskatoon, and they are already booking groups into our city from Brazil for 2026 and beyond.”
Looking ahead, in 2026, Saskatoon will be hosting a FIFA watch party event, the Canadian Country Music Awards, and the 100th year Montana’s Brier in 2027.
