To say that the Prince Albert area is going through the extremes of dangerous spring conditions is an understatement!
Within two weeks of having flood warnings ended, a fire ban was declared for all areas of the North Saskatchewan River within the City of Prince Albert. A news release said the fire ban was effective as of 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon and applies to Little Red River Park, Hazeldell, Nordale plus all properties east of Little Red River Park to the City Limits at the Pulp Haul Road. During the ban, no open fires are permitted in these areas. However, self-contained heating devices, gas barbecues, propane fire pits and charcoal briquettes used in an approved fire pit are exceptions for cooking and heating purposes only. The ban was issued based on current and forecasted conditions from the Fire Weather Index for the grassland and forest fringe areas within the City limits. The fire ban for the city’s Northern area will remain in effect until further notice.
