Over $183,700 were raised as part of Tim Horton’s most recent Smile Cookie campaign.
The money will be split by Hope’s Home, a medically inclusive childcare provider, and Roadway Literacy Academy, a specialized school for students with learning disabilities.
Danielle Robson with Tim Horton’s was present for the cheque presentation.
“It’s really important for us as Tim Horton’s owners to give back to the community that supports us, and these two charities are outstanding to work with.”
Ken Erickson with Roadway Literacy Academy says they just expanded their facility, so the money will be put towards walls and furniture, as well as bursaries for students who can’t afford the programming.
Sash Broda from Hopes Home adds that the funds will ensure families who have been on waitlists are able to receive medically inclusive childcare in a timelier manner.
Each charity will receive about $92,000. The next campaign returns in November.
