The Meadow Lake Tribal Council and Carbon Alpha Corp. are engineering a plan to bring carbon capture technology into an existing bioenergy facility.
The project, called the North Star Beccs Project, is meant to speed up the capture and storage of carbon at the MLTC Bioenegry Centre.
The project is expected to support the making of the bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) systems. BECCS systems are meant to lead to low and negative emissions in energy production when implemented.
Currently the plan has $2,500,000 in funding.
The project is projected to strengthen Indigenous partnerships, support local employment opportunities, and put Canada in a position to invest in larger scale solutions for carbon management in the future.
