The results of Monday night’s three federal byelection’s was enough to push the Liberal party from a minority to a majority government.

The ridings in BC and Ontario went in and out of the byelection’s as Liberal ridings. Quebec on the other hand was previously a Conservative riding but after the elections is now a Liberal riding.

Well discussing the byelection’s at a conference on Tuesday, concerns surrounding the topic of Canada-US trade negotiations was brought up.

Prime Minister Mark Carney responded to the concern, saying Canada is willing to return to the table when the US is ready to take the negotiations seriously.

“Our plan has always been standing up for Canada, first in for most, here at home, building Canada, diversifying abroad. Everyone in the world wants to do more with Canada and were doing that in a way that’s in the best interest of Canadians.”

Carney says that the results of last nights elections sends the message that Canadians are behind the plan of the government.
