Lisa O’Keefe is the Vice President, Community Partnerships with Soles4Souls says the nonprofit organization is definitely planning to build its program to reach more children in underserved communities particularly looking at Canada’s Indigenous population and new Canadians.
O’Keefe notes that kids in underserved parts of a community experience a lot of hardships and challenges where every day is a big day for them.
But in the immediate time frame, Soles4Souls are in Saskatoon Wednesday evening partnering with The Shoe Co. in hosting a shoe distribution event
“We know kids who receive new shoes have more confidence attend school more regularly and are much more physically active so that’s why we focus on shoes.”
They are bringing 50 kids from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada in to shop, and the real magic of the event is the fun the kids have. O’Keefe notes a lot of kids don’t have the opportunity to go shopping and pick their own brand-new shoes.
The distribution event in Saskatoon takes place Wednesday 6:30 p.m. at Midtown Plaza.
