More out-of-province fire crews are coming to our province to fight ongoing wildfires.
Forty firefighters from Mexico will join a similar number from Australia working on the Muskeg Fire in the Beauval region, about four hours northwest of Saskatoon. Teams from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick will arrive on the weekend as well, which is being welcomed by Steve Roberts, vice-president of the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency.
Highway 155, north of the Beauval area, is open to essential traffic guided by pilot vehicles.
Roberts says light wind over the last two days has allowed crews to work on the perimeter of the Buhl fire in Prince Albert National Park. As a result, it has moved no closer to the Waskesiu townsite.
There are 51 active wildfires burning in the province and 1,700 people have been evacuated from eight communities in northern Saskatchewan.,
