The Regina Police Service says officers responded to a weapons call at a home in the 300 block of Smith Street around 5:40 p.m. Monday where the caller told police there were two men inside with guns who wouldn’t allow anyone to leave.
In a news release police says while officers on scene established a perimeter and began to clear the residence a dog came out of the home and attacked a Police Service Dog (PSD) that was part of the Canine Unit.
An officer shot the dog and it died. The PSD suffered minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
