Prince Albert Police say they have arrested a man who was wanted by police in relation to two shootings this month. A 19-year-old man is in Prince Albert Provincial Court Wednesday facing a laundry list of charges including attempted murder and forcible confinement after he was arrested around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday outside a business in the 800 block of 15th Street West in Prince Albert.
The first shooting was August 3rd in the 1600 block of 17th Street West. The suspect had fled, and a 26-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The second shooting was August 12th when police conducting routine patrols shortly after 7:00 a.m. in the South Hill area spotted an injured 29-year-old man in the middle of the road who had been shot. Again, the suspect had fled.
As a result of these investigations, the 19-year-old man has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5000, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts discharging a firearm in a reckless manner, attempted murder, forcible confinement, and multiple other firearms related charges.
The investigation included assistance from the Prince Albert Police Service Crime Reduction Team (CRT), Proactive Policing Unit (PPU), and Patrol.
