If you’ve driven in Saskatoon lately, you’ve probably noticed that there are more street closures right now than during a regular construction season.
Saskatoon Mayor Cynthia Block says that’s because crews were tasked with constructing 44 new bus stop platforms this summer, which will all be a part of the Bus Rapid Transit System.
“It will really get people to and from in a far more expedient fashion. It will be far more reliable because we’ll have intelligent design with our signaling lights, so buses will always get the full pass to make sure they’re on time,” she explains.
She adds that the BRT is expected to come online in June of 2028.
The City is also inviting resident to have their say in civic politics by joining a board, committee, or commission.
Block says this is a huge opportunity for residents to give back and have influence over how Saskatoon moves forward as a city.
“If I could just give a shout out to young people, this looks excellent on your resume. It is an awesome thong to take part on civic life, and you get to make a whole pile of new contacts.”
