The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team has concluded its investigation into an off-duty incident and a Saskatoon Police Officer was arrested Thursday and charged with assault.
On September 19, 2024, SIRT commenced an investigation into an allegation of assault, alleged to have taken place off duty at a social gathering at the home of a member of the Emergency Response Team, five days earlier.
In its final report SIRT said following a comprehensive review of the evidence gathered during the course of the investigation, it was determined that reasonable grounds existed to believe that an offence had been committed by the Subject Officer.
Twenty-three members of the police service were designated as Witness Officers. In addition to the members involved, nine civilian witnesses were identified and interviewed during the course of the investigation.
The officer facing charges will be in court November 27th.
