Food Banks Canada says demand on their services has doubled in the last 6 years, and they will receive 2.2 million visits in November alone.
In an effort to fight food insecurity during the holiday season, Think Turkey has launched the Wishbone Challenge. Lisa Cadeau, Think Turkey’s Director of National Marketing Campaigns, says the challenge runs from now until Dember 23rd.
“Anyone can join the challenge. It’s free, and the goal is to log 500 minutes of activity on the Strava app to complete that challenge and earn their wishbone badge.”
Once Canadians log a collective one million hours, Think Turkey will donate $20,000 to Food Banks Canada.
“The Wishbone Challenge is brand new this year. It’s the latest initiative of the wishbone project, which is an annual program. To date, that program has donated over $260,000 to fight food insecurity since 2020.”
She describes the challenge as a win-win for fitness-loving Canadians and those who need a little extra help this holiday season.
