The City of Prince Albert’s Budget Committee has concluded deliberations on the proposed 2026 budget. The taxation requirement was reduced by over $1.1 million after committee decisions and a review of departmental spending, reducing the amount of money funded by property taxes from over $4.4 million to just over $3.3 million.
The major cost drivers for the budget include $524,300 for the Lake Country Co-op Centre’s operations, $2.51 million in salaries, wages and benefits for City departments, a $723,853 Police Service funding increase and $1 million for the 6th Avenue Viaduct Bridge Rehabilitation.
The finalized budget recommendations will be sent to City Council for approval on December 15th.
