A study of the University of Saskatchewan’s economic and social impacts indicates that the school is an ‘economic engine for the province.’
The study, which was released on Thursday, highlights several key findings. For example, USask generated $2.0 billion of Saskatchewan’s gross domestic product and $2.4 billion to Canada’s GDP in 2024/25.
Another chunk of data says USask’s GDP per capita impact is the highest compared to nine other similar Canadian universities that measure this fact. USask also supports 13,320 jobs and more than $1 billion in labour income.
Visitors to USask spent an estimated $100.4 million in Saskatchewan in 2024/25. Each year, 4500 graduates are pumped out of USask, about 70 per cent of whom stay in the province to work afterward.
