While travelling for the holidays can be fun and exciting, CAA has some advice to make sure you stay safe and informed while celebrating.
CAA says it’s a good idea to make your home look lived in while you’re away. Some ways to do this include setting timers to turn on lights, TVs and radios periodically throughout the day as well as having a neighbour or friend shovel snow. They also advise you to make sure your home insurance is up to date.
If travelling by air, CAA says it’s important to monitor the status of your flight and pack smart. And know your airlines rules before you fly in addition to monitoring the weather.
If you are making a holiday road trip, it’s smart to check road and weather conditions, drive according to conditions, make sure your vehicle is prepped, and pack an emergency kit to keep in your vehicle including extra blankets, food and water and a cell phone charger. And if you get stranded, she says stay in your vehicle.
