The Saskatchewan RCMP have released more details about the two people who were killed on New Years Day south of Saskatoon.
The Saskatoon Fire Department was called to Highway 219 near Grasswood Road just before 3:30am on Thursday.
Crews checked both vehicles for occupants and found there was only one driver in each vehicle. Paramedics declared both people dead at the scene. Extrication tools were used to remove both drivers from the vehicles.
They have been identified as a 28-year-old male from Wadena and a 58-year-old male from Saskatoon. Neither vehicle had passengers.
The highway was closed during initial investigation but has since re-opened. Saskatoon RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
