An investigation is underway after an RUH patient died following an altercation with a SHA Protective Services Officer.

A news release from the SHA says Friday morning, SHA Protective Services Officers were called to a patient room after staff reported a safety concern involving an admitted patient.

The release continues that a physical altercation occurred between the patient and an officer, and the patient became unresponsive before being pronounced dead by medical staff.

The Saskatoon Police Service was immediately notified, according to the SHA. As the investigation is ongoing, and out of respect for those involved, the SHA says no further information is available at this time, but additional updates will be provided when appropriate.
