Nutrien has announced a pledge of $4 million to STARS, continuing their long-time support of the organization.
Ken Seitz, Nutrien’s CEO, believes it is crucial that Nutrien supports the lifesaving service that STARS provides to rural and remote communities in Saskatchewan.
“Living in remote areas comes with challenges. From potash mines to the farm, the people who put the food on tables around the world often work in places where help is not just down the road. When a medical emergency strikes, every minute counts and we rely on the bright red helicopters and medical experts on board to respond.”
STARS President and CEO John Froh says the money from Nutrien will support day-to-day operations at the STARS Nutrien Hangar in Saskatoon.
“When we see one of these helicopters go out the door, it will contribute to everything that goes into that mission, including training, readiness, advances and innovation in technology, innovation in clinical care. We were the first service in Canada to provide blood on board. That innovation is driven by partnerships and funding, like the $4 million from Nutrien.”
Froh adds that Nutrien’s contribution will help STARS save as many lives in the province as possible. Adair O’Grady, whose life was saved by STARS following a farm accident,
“It makes me proud that we have companies that lead strong and believe in what matters and helping people. At the end of the day, the grassroots of Saskatchewan is farmers and farmers care about helping people and I see that in Nutrien and they’re leading strongly that way. Their commitment to STARS in this step as well too, it’s amazing.”
Nutrien’s pledge brings their total contribution to STARS to over $30 million over the last ten years.
