The Saskatoon Police Service has arrested two people following an extensive investigation by the Economic Crime Section.
In late 2025, police say they began receiving reports of counterfeit currency being used to purchase goods in both the buy and sell market and retail environment.
Through continued investigation, a 33-year-old man and 36-year-old woman were arrested at a business in the 2800 block of Idylwyld Drive North on January 13.
The pair were apprehended while trying to buy $1200 worth of tools with counterfeit currency.
A search warrant was then executed at a home in Rosthern, where police seized several thousand dollars’ worth of tools believed to be purchased with counterfeit currency as well as materials and equipment used to produce counterfeit currency.
