On Wednesday Wadena RCMP executed a search warrant at a home on Fishing Lake First Nation based on an investigation into illegally possessed firearms.

RCMP say officers located and seized nine firearms, more than 450 rounds of ammunition, one crossbow and two compound bows.

A man was arrested near the home for breach of a conditional sentence order and with continued investigation RCMP say 30-year-old Wyatt Desjarlais from Fishing Lake First Nation is charged with one count each unauthorized possession of a firearm and unsafe storage of firearms.

He is in Wynyard Provincial Court Thursday.
