The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives reports that Saskatchewan has created 6,915 childcare spaces as of the third quarter in 2025. That figure is well below the 28,000 goal established for the end of March. The report also says that Saskatchewan has the second worst access to childcare in the country.
The provincial NDP held a news conference in Regina with the group Childcare Now to talk about the situation.
According to the report, 90 per cent of Saskatchewan families live in areas where there is inadequate childcare coverage.
