A Kisbey woman is Saskatchewan’s first jackpot winner of the year, taking home the $18 million Lotto 6/49 Gold Jackpot.
Cora Cuthbert, who calls Pheasant Rump Nakota First Nation home, was at work when she scanned her ticket on the Lotto Spot app.
When she saw she had won, she called her coworkers over one by one to confirm that she had actually become $18 million richer.
Cuthbert and her coworkers then headed to the pharmacy in Arcola where she had purchased the ticket so she could scan it in-store, where it was confirmed to be a winner.
She said that she bought the ticket in memory of her father who passed away last summer, as he was an avid lottery participant.
Now with a jackpot of money, Cuthbert plans to go on trips to Edmonton and Hawaii, make sure people on the reserve have access to support and medical care, retire, and give her dog, Babygirl, a spa day.
