New data from Angus Reid following Mark Carney’s speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos shows that, while the majority of Canadians praise the way the Prime Minister has handled Trump so far, there is still significant fear about the enigmatic relationship between the two as well as what’s to come.
According to the poll, 79 per cent of Canadians are more fearful than hopeful about the year ahead, with many calling the first year of Trump’s current presidential term corrupt, chaotic and incompetent.
While Americans are disatisfied with Trump, 43 per cent are hopeful about the year ahead, compared to only 21 per cent of Canadians.
Part of Canada’s concern may stem from Trump’s jabs toward Carney about absorbing Canada into the American union. 74 per cent of Canadians also feel the US President will carry out more regime-change operations, such as the one in Venezuela.
