The Saskatoon Police Service firearms investigation began Wednesday at 4:30 a.m. after officers patrolling in an alley in the 100 block of avenue T south say they saw a group of men discard an object into a snowbank after seeing police.
Officers approached the group and found that the object was a sawed-off firearm. Further investigation found two other men in possession of sawed-off firearms and another with bear spray.
A 19-year-old man was found to be suffering stab wounds believed to be inflicted during an incident earlier in the night. He was taken to hospital for his injuries. He is not facing charges.
As a result of the investigation, four men aged 32, 18, and two aged 20 are facing a variety of weapons related charges. The 18-year-old was also found to be breaching court-imposed conditions.
Police are continuing to investigate.
