Some long-standing records fell on Thursday starting with Prince Albert which broke a 139-year-old daytime high record for February 5th. The new record is 8.9 degrees Celsius while the old record was 7.2 degrees. Weather records have been kept in the Prince Albert area since 1884.
Five records all set in 1991 also fell yesterday in Assiniboia, Meadow Lake, Melfort, North Battleford and Wynyard. In total 14 daily maximum temperature records were set or tied on Thursday.
Maple Creek was the hot spot in the province at 14.7 degrees and also set a new record for daytime high beating out the old record of 14.6 degrees set in 1993. The hotspot in Canada was Lethbridge at 20 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Saskatoon Thursday topped out at 5.7 degrees.
