One person has been arrested, but another remains at large following an assault in North Battleford a couple of weeks ago.
A Saskatchewan RCMP news release says the Battlefords RCMP were called to reports of two injured persons in the downtown area of North Battleford at about 8:30 p.m. on January 31. An investigation by officers determined an altercation occurred between a group of individuals at a residence on 100th Street. A male and female were injured and forcibly confined due to the altercation. Both victims were later able to escape where police from the Battlefords detachment located them. Both were taken to hospital with injuries described as being non-life threatening in nature. Continued investigation resulted in the arrest of 26-year-old Conner Dreaver of North Battleford on February 1. He is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on February 23. The investigation also determined that 21-year-old Mia Starchief (pictured) of Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation was the second person involved in the altercation that led to the injured victims. A warrant has been issued for Mia Starchief’s arrest with the Battlefords RCMP asking for public assistance with locating her. The photo of Mia Starchief’s hair colour doesn’t reflect her current appearance. She is described as being 5’3″ tall and weighing 140 pounds with brown eyes and dyed blue hair. Members of the public are warned not to approach Mia Starchief if you spot her, but to report all sightings and information on the whereabouts of Mia Starchief to Battlefords RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
