Battlefords RCMP have arrested two people on a combined 16 charges following a shooting in North Battleford.
On February 8 around 9:30 p.m., RCMP received a report of shots being fired at a residential building in North Battleford. Officers arrived to learn there were no injuries and the suspects fled the scene in a grey SUV.
The vehicle was then seen driving on Highway 16. A traffic stop was attempted, but was unsuccessful, and the vehicle turned down a rural road before coming to a sudden stop.
Officers say one suspect exited the vehicle, threw a firearm on the ground and got back into the SUV.
After multiple requests to exit the vehicle, the two men obeyed commands and were arrested without incident. Officers seized the loaded firearm that had earlier been thrown on the ground, as well as firearm ammunition and bear spray.
Now, 32-year-old Monty Bear from Little Pine First Nation and 29-year-old Blake Kasokeo from Poundmaker First Nation appeared in court yesterday.
