Two women from the Sweetgrass First Nation have been charged in connection with a firearm discharge Monday night in North Battleford.
RCMP received a report of an altercation outside a residence on Clark Drive around 10:15pm. A group of people were involved in the altercation, but no one was hurt.
The following day, Battlefords RCMP arrested 24-year-old Alexa White and 21-year-old Lexie White at a residence on the Sweetgrass First Nation. An RCMP news release indicates a handgun, a firearm magazine and ammunition were seized.
The two women made their first court appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court on Thursday.
24-year-old Alexa White from Sweetgrass First Nation is charged with:
- one count, assault with a weapon, Section 267(a), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammunition without license/registration, Section 95(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon or restricted weapon, Section 91(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code; and
- one count, discharge firearm while being reckless, Section 244, Criminal Code.
21-year-old Lexie White from Sweetgrass First Nation is charged with:
- one count, assault with a weapon, Section 267(a), Criminal Code;
- one count, discharge firearm while being reckless, Section 244, Criminal Code;
- one count, restricts/obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code;
- one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number, Section 108(1)(b), Criminal Code;
