For the first time, there is Saskatchewan Day at the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada Convention in Toronto. Tuesday will showcase Saskatchewan’s mining sector.
In a news release the Government of Saskatchewan says the province is the world’s leading potash producer, the world’s second largest uranium producer and Canada’s largest helium producer. By the end of 2026, Saskatchewan is expected to have commercial production of six critical minerals: potash, uranium, helium, copper, zinc and lithium.
Meanwhile, echoing much of the sentiment expressed by the Prime Minister in Davos, Switzerland, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson addressed the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada Convention in Toronto.
He said we are at a hinge moment in Canadian history.
“Supply chains are being rewired, strategic competition is intensifying, capital is being repriced and critical minerals, once treated as background inputs, are now central to global power, to economics, to national defence and the race to net-zero.”
The Fraser Institute ranks Saskatchewan third globally for mining investment attractiveness. Held each year in Toronto, the convention attracts thousands of mining industry professionals and investors from over 125 countries.
