A Regina man recently sentenced in the death of his wife, has died in jail.
Fifty-four-year-old Jason McKay, an inmate at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert, died Wednesday while in custody.
He began serving his life sentence on February 24th.
McKay pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the 2017 death of his wife, Jenny McKay.
An agreed statement of facts says she was stabbed 24 times.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
