The Saskatoon Police Service has made an arrest in connection to an alleged sexual assault that took place in 2001 involving a female youth.
Police say it was September that year when officers responded to a home in the 800 block of Avenue E North after a female youth reported being the victim of sexual assault. Subsequently a sexual assault kit was collected at the time of the incident.
It was this month that police were notified a DNA match had been identified.
The 52-year-old suspect was tracked down and on Tuesday an arrest was made. The accused would have been 27 years old at the time of the alleged attack and is in court Wednesday charged with Sexual Assault with a Weapon, Wearing a Disguise during Commission of an Offence, Uttering Threats to Cause Death, and Mischief.
