It’s my Parting Shot for my Monday Musings…..
I should’ve known better that a record-setting six-stroke lead after 36 holes of The Masters wasn’t a guarantee that Rory McIlroy would have a stress-free, leisurely stroll to a second straight Green Jacket! After all, we’re talking about the very unforgiving Augusta National lay-out, a world-class field and McIlroy’s penchant for never making things easy on himself! However, Rory did win – although he had to overcome a wayward right, banana-like looking tee shot on 18 – something that yours truly and many other Sunday hackers do with great regularity – to hang on!
Here we are, The Masters is done, it’s April 13 and the local golf courses aren’t open yet! And, won’t be for another couple of weeks – especially if we get that dump of snow that Environment Canada is talking about for Wednesday night through Thursday! No matter if I’m addressing “Mother Nature” or “Old Man Winter” – Enough already!!
The Toronto Raptors are back in the N-B-A playoffs for the first time since 2022. I know, I know – many of you are saying that I’m talking pro basketball, which you could care less about, after having started by talking golf, which you only care slightly more about than the N-B-A! Hey, that’s your prerogative – but I like to think of myself as being a well-rounded sports enthusiast! And, I don’t mean round like my mid-section!!
Have no fear, I will have lots to say about hockey – both the N-H-L and the W-H-L, especially the current P-A Raiders domination of the Saskatoon Blades, when I have a chance to clearly make my points – like them or not! I have a funny feeling that many of you won’t like them, especially when it comes to how I feel about the N-H-L going into their post-season!!
And, I always thought that a rookie was someone in the first year of their chosen endeavour – sports or otherwise! Can someone, please, clue that in to the producers of the television Police procedural Crime drama Action series called, The Rookie?! It’s into its eighth season! Heck, character John Nolan, played by Nathan Fillion, should at least be known as a veteran by now, right?!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
