Battlefords RCMP attempted a traffic stop on a Ford truck on 110th Street around 12:15pm on Monday, April 13th after identifying the driver as a wanted man. The driver sped away when the RCMP cruiser’s lights and sirens were activated.
The Ford truck was spotted around 1:30pm on Forest Hall Road, about 10 kilometres east of Highway 4. There was also a group of people and a second truck, a Dodge. Officers approached with emergency equipment activated, but the group entered the trucks and tried to flee again.
The Dodge truck drove into the ditch, where the driver was arrested. At the same time, the Ford truck became inoperable. Its driver went into the Dodge truck and hit an occupied police vehicle. The officers were not injured. A woman who had been in the Ford truck was arrested on the scene as well.
The Dodge truck was eventually located near Rabbit Lake around 2pm. Officers arrested five people near the vehicle. RCMP dogs tracked down the driver who had fled on foot into a nearby field.
RCMP report a large sum of cash was found under the driver’s seat. Two pairs of brass knuckles and an edged weapon were also seized.
The following charges have been laid:
Forty-three-year-old Cody Caron of Douglas, Saskatchewan was arrested on outstanding warrants. He is also charged with one count each of flight from police, resisting arrest, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, one count of mischief and one count of failing to stop after an accident.
Thirty-nine-year-old Jason Rosseau of Surrey, BC is charged with one count of flight from police. Twenty-six-year-old Iesha Wuttunee from North Battleford is charged with one count of resisting arrest. Hanna Bolig (25-year-old) from North Battleford, Tyson Mosquito (36-year-old) from North Battleford and Tristan Pritchard (29-year-old) from Wilkie are all charged with one count of resisting arrest, on count of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and one count of carrying a concealed weapon. Bolig is also charged with two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
John Jepson (24-year-old) from Saskatoon was arrested on outstanding warrants and is charged with one count of mischief.
All seven made their initial court appearance on Tuesday in North Battleford.
