The Saskatoon Police Service says their officers made several arrests in multiple evade police incidents on the long weekend.
On Friday around 8:15 p.m. officers tried to pull over a grey Toyota Corolla known to be stolen. This was at the intersection of 19th Street West and Avenue T South, but the vehicle sped away and then hit another vehicle at the intersection of 22nd Street West and Avenue K north. The suspect vehicle ended up rolling onto its roof and two people inside were taken into custody.
A 17-year-old female and a 24-year-old man are both charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000. The female faces additional charges of Dangerous Driving and Evade Police.
Around noon on Saturday a patrol officer followed an SUV driving erratically at 22nd Street and Witney Avenue and then learned the vehicle had been reported stolen from Prince Albert. It came to a stop in a parking lot in the 500 block of Avenue X South. One woman was taken into custody at the scene. Police say a second woman tried to flee on foot, but a suspect was located a short distance away and detained.
In a news release Saskatoon Police Service says the women were in possession of brass knuckles, a knife and an expandable baton. Meanwhile a search of the SUV led officers to seizing bear spray and a sawed-off shotgun, along with 105 grams of Methamphetamine.
The two, a 29-year-old woman from the Muskoday First Nation and a 26-year-old from Sandy Bay, are facing more than 25 charges including; Impaired Driving, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Weapons Dangerous to the Public Peace and Possession of Methamphetamine. The 29-year-old was also wanted on outstanding warrants.
And on Victoria Day shortly after 4 in the afternoon patrol officers tried to stop a grey Chrysler Pacifica in the 400 block of Avenue X South because the license plate didn’t match the vehicle, but the vehicle fled. However, the police Air Support Unit followed it to Duck Lake where those inside stopped and got into another vehicle.
Around 7 p.m. RCMP took three people into custody, and a 30-year-old man was subsequently charged with Evade Police, Dangerous Driving, and Operating a Conveyance While Prohibited.
