More than $500,000 over the next four years is being invested in Prince Albert’s vulnerable youth population.
The Government of Saskatchewan is allocating the funding to the YWCA to provide safe shelter and support for youth who may be involved with the justice system or who are facing complex challenges like addictions, mental health concerns and homelessness.
A release from the Province says this renewed funding adds to $1.8 million already provided over the past three years to YWCA Prince Albert.
Services offered include housing, counselling and mental health supports, substance use recovery services, life skills and personal development, and connections to education and employment.
The release adds that in 2024-25, 77 per cent of YWCA Prince Albert clients reported an increased sense of well-being after participating in culturally appropriate programming.
