UPDATE: Dangerous person alert issued for Pelican Narrows and surrounding area: Saskatchewan RCMP

We can provide the following information in relation to today’s shooting in Pelican Narrows. Its important to note this incident is still unfolding and this investigation and evidence gathering are in the preliminary stages. We will provide the next update the morning of June 2, or sooner if an increased public safety risk is identified. 

Shortly before 2:00 p.m. June 1, 2026, Pelican Narrows RCMP responded to a report of a shooting near the local health clinic Pelican Narrows. The incident did not occur at the clinic as initially reported.

Two people were located injured. One person is confirmed deceased and one person is seriously injured. We are not providing more identification details about these two individuals at this time. No other injuries have been reported to police in relation to this incident.

The suspect is described as male, wearing all black clothing and a face covering. DO NOT APPROACH anyone matching this description. Report any information about the suspect or suspicious persons or activity to police immediately.

The RCMP has issued an active shooter alert for the Pelican Narrows region.

The alert said the shooter was at the clinic, and the suspect is unknown. However, a Saskatchewan RCMP news release said the suspect is a man, wearing all black clothing with a face covering. He is on foot, but his direction of travel is unknown. They add that the situation is rapidly unfolding with updates to be provided as soon as possible.

Instruction from officers tells residents to find a safe location, lock doors, and stay away from the Pelican Narrows area.

If you see the shooter, do not approach him. Do not share police locations.
