The Saskatchewan RCMP say scam text messages purportedly from the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan has made its way to the Carnduff and Indian Head areas where there has been a recent cluster of reports.
The messages claim that recipients have an outstanding traffic citation, and direct individuals to click a link and submit payment online, falsely identifying the sender as the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan.
Officers have noted the messages originated from a phone number using a “+21” area code and say the messages are not legitimate. Saskatchewan RCMP advise the public not to click on any links provided in these messages and not to send payment or personal information.
RCMP encourage residents not to text the scammer back, block the phone number immediately, do not send money or gift cards and keep a record of the text.
