What was described in earlier reports as being a serious collision in the northbound lanes of Highway #11, just over a kilometre north of Hanley, has been confirmed as a single-vehicle rollover with a fatality.

According to a Saskatchewan RCMP news release, a 40-year-old man from Saskatoon was a passenger in a vehicle that rolled over after 4 a.m. Tuesday morning. The deceased male’s next-of-kin has been notified. He was one of four occupants of the vehicle. A second passenger was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature while the driver and a third passenger didn’t report injuries to police. Initially, all lanes were closed and within a few hours one lane was open with all lanes north and southbound now clear around Hanley. Saskatoon RCMP continue to investigate with the help of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

Saskatchewan RCMP add that, as of 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, there have been 54 fatal collisions with 67 fatalities on roadways policed by the Saskatchewan RCMP in 2026.

There were two other serious collisions on the long weekend. A fatal single vehicle rollover on George Gordon First Nation that claimed the lives of a 42-year-old woman and two 43-year-old men from the First Nation – that was just before 3 a.m. Sunday morning and around noon Sunday there was another accident – a collision on Highway 16 three kilometres northwest of Maymont. As of midafternoon Sunday, Saskatchewan RCMP say there had been 53 fatal collisions and 66 fatalities in RCMP jurisdiction in 2026.
