The Saskatchewan RCMP is warning the public and businesses following a series of fraud-related occurrences that have taken place across the province.

The businesses targeted by the activity mainly worked in supply for heavy-duty trucking and transportation services such as automotive suppliers, tire shops, and fuel distributors.

Upon investigation, officers found that the businesses had received phone calls from individuals looking to purchase tires, engine oil, or trailer parts. While the caller would provide credit card information over the phone, with the transaction seemingly approved and pending, the businesses would see that the credit card had been declined once the items were shipped, with no payment being received.

RCMP say so far 10 communities are affected including Battleford, Hudson Bay, Kindersley, Biggar, Onion Lake, Cudworth, Assiniboia, Weyburn, White Butte, and Moosomin.

No charges have been laid as yet. RCMP are sharing the information in hopes to avoid other businesses becoming victims.

Similar incidents have also been reported in other prairie provinces, with the RCMP continuing their investigation and collaborating with other forces as their work continues.
