The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire in the portable classrooms at Bethlehem High School in Saskatoon’s Blairmore neighbourhood.

The report came in at 10:32pm. When crews arrived they could see heavy smoke and large flames coming from the school.

Fire command than called for a 2nd Alarm, which brought additional apparatus and firefighters to the scene. Crews went inside to look for fire extension and search for people inside. The fire has since been extinguished.

In a letter sent to the Bethlehem School community it was stated that the portables had sustained significant damage and that some smoke and water damage had made it’s way to other parts of the school. The letter added that the school and surrounding areas are closed well the impact is assessed.

A fire investigator is on scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
