Two boys were charged in relation to a firearms incident on a Regina city transit bus.
Police received a report of three youths on a transit bus on Tuesday around 5:30 pm. One youth was reportedly waving a firearm around inside the bus.
Police managed to locate the three youth – an 11-year-old, a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old – in the area of Park Street and Victoria Avenue. All three were taken into custody.
During a search, police found:
- Three, loaded homemade firearms
- Bear mace
- Other live ammunition
No one was injured. As a result of this investigation, the 14-year-old and 15-year-old boys are charged with:
- Careless Use of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
- 3 counts Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
Both boys made their first appearance in Regina Provincial Youth Court on Wednesday.
