The final count is in for the 2020 Provincial Election and 52.86% of eligible voters cast their ballot in 2020. Of the 841,807 eligible voters, there were a total of 445,011 votes cast in this year’s election, including 56,547 mail-in ballots. Counting of mail-in ballots was completed on Saturday night.
The Saskatchewan Party officially have 48 seats and received 269,996 votes, good for 60.67%. The Saskatchewan NDP have 13 seats with 140,584 votes or 31.59%. In third place was the Buffalo Party with 11,298 or 2.54%, the Green Party was close behind them with 10,033 or 2.25%. The Progressive Conservative Party had 8,404 total votes, Indpendent candidates claimed 1,076, while the Saskatchewan Liberals had just 335 total votes or 0.08%.
With mail-in ballots completed, close races like Saskatoon Meewasin, University and Riversdale have now been decided. NDP Leader Ryan Meili has officially won Meewasin by 367 votes defeating Rylund Hunter of the SaskParty. The NDP’s Jennifer Bowes officially claims the Saskatoon University seat, beating SaskParty’s Eric Olauson by 495 votes. Finally, one of the closest races saw the SaskParty’s Marv Friesen narrowly win the Riversdale seat by just 81 votes over the NDP’s Ashlee Hicks.
