A North Battleford area man charged with sexual assault, luring a child to facilitate an offence, and making explicit material available to a child was sentenced in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Tuesday.
63 year old Oakley Blackstar is sentenced to 20 months in jail, three years probation, a DNA order and 20 years on the national sex offender registry.
Last September the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit received a complaint about a man enticing a 16 year old girl from the Saskatoon area through a popular online chat application to engage in sexual activity at a local hotel.
Police located the teen who said that in June the man took her to his hotel room and sexually assaulted her.
Police say he had been grooming the 16 year old through the exchange of naked pictures after they became online friends.
