The Prime Minister convened the Incident Response Group on Thursday regarding the ongoing illegal blockades taking place in Canada. A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office says ministers and senior officials are working closely with provincial and municipal governments and they are deploying all federal resources necessary to help them get the situation under control.
Justin Trudeau later tweeted that protesters are “harming the local communities, jobs, businesses, and our country’s economy”.
There are blockades in Ottawa, Coutts, Alberta, and in Emerson, Manitoba where Canada Border Services Agency says the port of entry remains open but travellers should expect delays due to protest activities in the area and suggests one alternative entry point is North Portal, Saskatchewan.
There are apparently convoys headed to two Saskatchewan border crossings.
Social media posts indicate the North Portal gathering is slated for February 18th and there is also an event planned for this Saturday at the Regway crossing near Minton, Saskatchewan.
An Ontario Superior Court justice is set to hear an application for an injunction that would end the bridge protest.
