Tuesday was Day 13 of Russia’s attack on Ukraine. This morning (Tues), President Joe Biden confirmed that the U.S. is banning all imports of Russian oil, gas and coal. He posted on social media that the United States will not be part of subsidizing Putin’s war. Russian oil will no longer be acceptable in U.S. ports.
On Twitter on Monday in response to news that the President might be heading to Saudi Arabia this spring to talk about exporting more oil from there, Premier Scott Moe said, “If only there was a reliable source of oil somewhere closer.” Last week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced banning Russia’s oil, saying, “While Canada has imported very little amounts in recent years, this measure sends a powerful message.”
BBC reports that the UK government is to phase out Russian oil and oil products by the end of 2022.
