The City of Saskatoon reports that the City’s crews and contractor crews are making excellent progress cleaning up the 13-centimetre snowfall that ended Sunday morning, but when the heavy snow begins again, they will be reassigned to priority 1 streets. Priority 1 streets are Circle Drive and any streets with three or more lanes each way, like Idylwyld Drive, 22nd Street and College Drive.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning, and Saskatoon is included in it. The City urges drivers to be careful on bridge decks and ramps, intersections on priority streets, sidewalks and pathways because they may be slippery from the layer of ice under the fresh snow. Road crews are monitoring the high-risk locations and salting and sanding as required.
Environment Canada’s snowfall warning: There is a snowfall warning for southwest saskatchewan and heading north and east to also include Saskatoon and further north and east to include Melfort, Tisdale, Hudson Bay and Porcupine Plain. It also includesSwift Current, Leader, Kindersley, Rosetown, Outlook, Prince Albert, Shellbrook , Humboldt and Wynyard… and everything in the surrounding areas. Snow, at times heavy beginning in the southwest, and continuing through tonight, with 10 to 15 cm expected by tomorrow morning. Visibility will be reduced from the snow and blowing snow.
