There is a higher need for blood donors on long weekends because there is the possibility of car accidents, in addition to fewer people being around.
Territory manager for Canadian Blood Services is Lisa Beechinor who says in the days after a long weekend there is also increased need partly due to people being away so they ask donors to donate before they leave or immediately upon returning.
Saskatoon has 200 open appointments next week as well as 15-hundred open appointments until the end of June. In Regina there are 899 open appointments until the end of June.
